National Director

As National Director, Judith has administrative oversight of all activities and programs of AWAGO. She is an active teacher of Transcendental Meditation and has taught hundreds of women and girls over the past several years. She continues to forge new partnerships with women’s organizations, presenting our programs at conferences and seminars, and expanding our outreach in all areas of the community. Judith has a BA in Business Administration from Makerere University and a diploma in Business Studies. She is a mother with two children.

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique

Maria is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Her main area of focus as a TM teacher has been teaching TM to mothers served by UWOPED (United Women’s Platform for Empowerment and Development). She has a Bachelors degree in Development Studies from Makerere University.

“This project has really expanded and demonstrated the far-reaching benefits for vulnerable women and children. The mothers are very inspired by the positive benefits they have acquired through development of the inner aspect of their lives. They report that their TM practice has promoted better health and well being on all levels of life—mentally, physically, emotionally and behaviorally, resulting in greater calm, increased happiness, and more effectiveness in daily life.”

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique

Grace is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique, and Headmistress of the EDAPO School (Economic Development and Aids Prevention Organization). EDAPO is an orphanage school with over 300 students, both boys and girls, where all the students have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique. Grace has a degree in Education and is married with three children.

“Having recently completed my TM Teacher Training, I am now looking forward to using this training in my role as Headmistress at EDAPO School. I have seen so many positive changes in our students since they started learning the Transcendental Meditation technique and now I will be able to teach more children this valuable practice.”

NANSUBUGA BARBRAH

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique

Barbrah is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Her area of focus is working as TM teacher and Administrator at Maharishi Secondary School for Girls (MSSG) in Mbale, Uganda. MSSG, which is a Total Knowledge based (Consciousness-based) educational institution, is an affiliate of AWAGO where all students practice the TM technique and its advanced programs. Barbrah is married to Lusimbo Grant, Director of MSSG, and they have one child.

“Maharishi Secondary School for Girls fills an important need in Uganda to provide quality education for girls, giving them the opportunity to develop their full potential, preparing them to succeed, flourish, and become leaders for Uganda and all of Africa.”

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique

Teddy is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. Her area of focus has been in the implementation of TM programs in schools with a special focus at Peace High School, where half of the students have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique as part of the Quiet Time project. Although she has a diploma in Hotel Management, she has found her calling teaching TM and its advanced programs to improve the quality of life for women and children. Teddy is mother of 2 children.

“The Quiet Time program at Peace High School has been very rewarding, as we see so many of the students have improved in their academic performance, their sports accomplishments, and they report that relationships among their fellow students and teachers have become more harmonious and enjoyable.”

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique

Kiconco is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Her main area of focus as a TM teacher is working with EDAPO School (Economic Development and Aids Prevention Organization). EDAPO is an orphanage school with over 300 students, both boys and girls, where all the students have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique. She has a diploma in Leadership and a Certificate in Computer Science. She is a mother of 2 children.

“At EDAPO School, the students’ regular practice of TM has resulted in a conducive learning environment, and the students are more orderly and enjoy learning in spite of their challenging family background. We see them growing in happiness and see the return of the spark of life and joy for them.”

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique

Dede is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique. With her language background, her main focus is working with the Refugee Foundation project, an organization that serves all categories of refugees, especially the Congolese. She has a Diploma in Journalism and certificates in both Kiswahili and English language

“A good number of mothers and girls who were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique and are enjoying positive benefits. They find that the TM technique gives them a way to overcome stress and cope with the challenges they face in their lives.”

Teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique

Sarah is a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation technique. She is currently using her skill as a TM teacher and her manager training in her role as a school manager at Ideal Girls School in Mbale. She has a Diploma in purchasing supplies and stores management and has previously worked as a teacher at Peace High School in Kampala.

“As the newest member of the TM teaching staff at AWAGO I am delighted to be using my combined training in management and teaching at Ideal Girls School in Mbale. It is my honor to work with these young students and offer them the opportunity to reduce stress and increase their happiness, creativity, and enjoyment of knowledge.”
